 Chief of Army staff, Buratai proves his fellowship of wildlife by donating two Hilux vehicles for effective forest monitoring The two hilux vehicles At the just concluded annual national conference of the Wildlife Society of Nigeria (WISON), the Army chief was given an award of fellowship of the society. This award was in recognition of his commitment and collaboration with Nigeria National Park service towards protection of wildlife and natural resources. This award generated debate and confusion among Twitter community that what is his contribution to wildlife conservation in Nigeria Lt T. Y Buratai has proved his worthiness and reaffirm his commitment to stamp out banditry, kidnapping and other security threats emanating from Forests, Parks and bushes used as dens and hideouts, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Yusuf Buratai has donated two brand new Hilux Vans to the National Park Services (NPS) to enhance patrols towards weeding out criminal elements.

FG set to launch information center for National Parks Emblem of Nigeria National Park service Federal government has concluded arrangement to reposition seven national parks by establishing an information desk to generate and document relevant data for biodiversity conservation in the country.  The head of the service, Conservator General CG, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Goni revealed the plan when he inaugurated the desk officers during a two-day forum held at the Akoto Base Camp, Sepeteri, Old Oyo National Park. CG said what necessitated the creation of indigenous information desks, bordered on population growth and unsustainable resources consumption. He explained that the desks were selected based on merit and ability to work effectively, urging them to identify relevant information that would boost the activities of the parks to attract tourists and visitors. “We are taking measures to reposition the national park, to meet world standards. Costa Rica has received a 2019 Champions of the Earth aw ard The UN’s highest environmental honour, for its role in the protection of nature and its commitment to ambitious policies to combat climate change.  The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) recognized Costa Rica in the policy leadership category.   A world leader in sustainability, the Central American nation has drafted a detailed plan to decarbonize its economy by 2050, in line with the Paris Climate Agreement and the UN’s’ Sustainable Development Goals.
