Nigeria-cameroon chimpanzee

The Nigeria-Cameroon chimpanzee (Pan troglodytes ellioti) is a distinct, range-restricted and the most endangered of all the four currently recognized sub-species of chimpanzee (Pan troglodytes).

This larger primate lives in the rain forest on the Nigeria-cameroun border. Cross River National park is a home for this endangered species.

The Nigeria-Cameroon chimpanzee is recognised as the most threatened and least distributed of all the common chimpanzee subspecies, and without a dramatic change to human behaviour in the area, there is a likelihood of extinction in the coming decades

They are the only mammals capable of actual and sustained flight. Bats are more agile in flight than other birds because their forelimbs have been developed as wings.
