Customs seizes  pangolin scales worth N826m Pangolin  He noted that the fish and tomato paste consignments were falsely declared as agricultural sprayers, but after careful and physical examinations, the containers were found to contain imported tomato paste in tins, while others were carrying canned mackerel fish. Boyi said the feat was achieved through the sustained policy of conducting 100 per cent physical examination by the officers of the command on all consignments. According to the Area Comptroller, “the declarations made by the agents contravened Sections 161 (2, 3, and 4) of the Customs and Excise Management Act (CEMA), LFN 2004 and that the consignments have been seized and forfeited to the Federal Government. The Comptroller, who described the seizure as timely, called on all stakeholders to join in the fight to ultimately eradicate the international trade on wildlife, which is the primary concern of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species

Surely, every thing that has beginning shall have an end. The  late Alagba A 344-year-old tortoise popularly known as Alagba, in the palace of the Soun of Ogbomoso, is dead.The scared tortoise which was the oldest in Africa, was sick for a few days before her demise on Thursday. The  tortoise became a popular breed upon ascension of the throne of the current Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Oladunni Oyewumi with the monarch providing good shelter and health support for the tortoise during its sojourn on earth. The tortoise, which attracted people from all walks of life from Nigeria and abroad, will be greatly missed not only by the palace household but everyone who came in contact with Alagba during her lifetime. Alagba had lived in the palace for centuries. The tortoise played host to many monarchs in Ogbomoso in the past. FG set to launch information center for National Parks Emblem of Nigeria National Park service Federal government has concluded arrangement to reposition seven national parks by establishing an information desk to generate and document relevant data for biodiversity conservation in the country.  The head of the service, Conservator General CG, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Goni revealed the plan when he inaugurated the desk officers during a two-day forum held at the Akoto Base Camp, Sepeteri, Old Oyo National Park. CG said what necessitated the creation of indigenous information desks, bordered on population growth and unsustainable resources consumption. The Federal Government has approved N208 billion as part of the 2019 intervention through the Tertiary Education Trust Fund for infrastructural and teacher development in public tertiary institutions. Malaysia's last male Sumatran rhino has died, leaving behind just one female of the same rare species in captivity in the country. The Borneo Rhino Alliance (BORA) confirmed the animal's death in a statement on  Facebook on Monday, saying: "It is with heavy hearts that we share the tragic news that Tam, Malaysia's last male Sumatran rhino, has passed away." Tam  was the only male Sumatran rhino left in Malaysia. Tam had been suffering from organ failure before his death, BORA said  Sumatran rhinos are the world's smallest rhinoceros species, standing at around 4 feet 3 inches high, when fully grown. They are the only Asian rhinos with two horns, and are covered in hair. The 'experienced' keeper entered the predators' enclosure to feed them this morning at Serengeti Park in Hodenhagen, a spokesman for police in Walsrode, 80 kilometres from the zoo, told DPA news agency.
